This week, we are going to consider what I believe to be the greatest faith statement in the Bible. It is found in Habakkuk 3:11-19.<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
But, before we look at this statement of faith, let\u2019s consider some things about faith. <\/div>\n
Hebrews 11:1  (NIV)<\/div>\n
\u201cNow faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.\u201d<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
In this one verse, we discover three things about faith\u2026<\/div>\n
1.  FAITH IS FUTURISTIC \u2013 \u201cwhat we hope for\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cHope\u201d in Scripture is not wishful thinking. It\u2019s not like, \u201cI hope it doesn\u2019t rain today.\u201d <\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Paul speaks of having \u201cour hope set on the living God.\u201d (1 Timothy 4:10)<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Peter says that we are \u201cborn again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.\u201d (1 Peter 1:3)<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Those statements are not about wishful thinking. Rather, they speak of hope as something to be expected to happen in the future. <\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
2. FAITH IS CONFIDENT \u2013 Three words of confidence are used in this one verse: \u201csure,\u201d \u201chope,\u201d \u201ccertain.\u201d<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Some other translations help to shed light on the phase \u201cbeing sure of.\u201d<\/div>\n
Now faith is the substance (KJV)<\/div>\n
Now faith is the assurance  (ESV)<\/div>\n
Now faith is the reality  (HCSB)<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Also, these other translations may help us understand the phrase being, \u201ccertain.\u201d<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
the evidence of things not seen. (KJV)<\/div>\n
the conviction of things not seen. (ESV)<\/div>\n
the proof of what is not seen. (HCSB)<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Look back at what Paul said in 1 Timothy 4.10, \u201cour hope set on the living God.\u201d<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
3. FAITH IS FOCUSED ON THE UNSEEN \u2013 \u201cwhat we do not see\u201d<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
If you can see it, it\u2019s not faith.<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Hebrews 11:27 says, \u201cBy faith he (Moses) left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible.\u201d<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
What an amazing thought. Through our faith, we can see what cannot be seen.  We see our future in heaven with Jesus.  We see our sins forgiven. We see the overwhelming love of the presence of God.<\/div>\n
Hebrews 11:6 teaches us one more thing about faith\u2026<\/div>\n
4. The pleasure of God toward us in in our faith<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Hebrews 11:6  \u201cAnd without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.\u201d<\/div>\n\n\n
