Psalm 56:3–4 (NIV84)
3 When I am afraid, I will trust in you.
4 In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I will not be afraid.
What can mortal man do to me?

THE IMPLICATION BEHIND MOST OF OUR FEARS:
Yesterday, we talked about the importance of acknowledging our fears. As with most areas of our lives, if we are not willing to admit we have a need, there will be no help waiting for us.

Those of you who were involved Sunday Morning in our first live CONNECTION TIME may have noticed that I began our time together by acknowledging that I was uncomfortable with the process because I had never done anything like this before. I had asked several people to pray for me during that time.

By admitting my fears and asking for help, I opened myself up for the Lord’s help.

But, what is the implication behind most of our fears? Is it not that we know we are not in control? When one feels they have no control over their situation, they often find fear gripping them because they do not know the outcome of that situation. Not knowing the end results can leave us with many apprehensions.

Herein lies a reality that many believers have not come to grips with. God wants us to live without the knowledge of the end results of our endeavors or even our life’s end. In fact, I believe God even orchestrates situations which leave us without knowing the end result. Which forces us to acknowledge that we are not in control.

And why does He do this? To know the end results is to live by sight. Paul reminded the Corinthians that ”..we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 (ESV).

“Control Freaks” have a real problem, because the overpowering need to be in control implies an overpowering resistance to the control of God in their lives. The fact is we are never in control. We often live under the delusion that we are in control. We live only with a measure of control.

James sums up our current situation perfectly:

James 4:13–15 (ESV)
13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”

Today, let each of us choose to let the Lord to have control of our lives.
