Our New Life In Christ – The Power Life / The Witness Life
Just a reminder that each of these sayings explains one blessed aspect of our new life with Christ.
8. The Companionship Life
Another final word from Jesus was for us to make disciples of all nations as we go out. To do that, Jesus made this commitment to His disciples..
Matthew 28:20 (ESV). “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Jesus especially has committed to being with us when we are witnessing and making disciples.
But after Jesus ascended into heaven, the disciples surely recalled other times when Jesus promised His presence in their lives.
This one comes to my mind.
John 14:23 (ESV)
23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word,
and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
Oh what blessing the Father has given us with our new life in Christ.
Peter was writing to believers who had never seen Jesus. What he says to them seems to me to be the perfect way to conclude our thoughts today.
1 Peter 1:3–9 (NIV84)
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
